bad evaporator= air blows cold sometime but rest of time blows "semi-cold"..... if it blows hot all the time then it is your compressor.... that is all i know. hope that helps

Evaporators are normaly replaced if there is a leak in them. The dryer is normally replaced if the compressor goes out, because it will have pieces of the old compressor in it, or if it is moisture saturated. Why do you ask?

 

my ac isnt as cold as it should be and i have 2.5 cans of r134a in it

my car does the same shit. the wierd thing is, every summer my a/c starts blowing warm-semi cold air, but works fine durring the winter when i dont really need it. and every summer for the past 3 years, the mechanic told me it was my relay. i've checked the PSI and its fine. maybe im having the same problem as you and my mechanic is lieing to me.

 

i dotn have a condensor fan also but even when i moving at like 60mph is doesnt really help....when i stop the ac is worthless

 

same thing with my car again, when i stop the a/c was usless. also the other wierd thing. if i set my a/c to circulate the air from inside the car, it doesnt work. but if i set it to pull air from outside the car, it works, until i come to a stop. and now that the h22 is in my car, when i turn on the a/c my car almost dies. so i've only been using it on the hwy, but not in stop and go traffic.

 

maybe you have to much freon in? That will cause it to blow warm air or semi cold.

 

you need to hook some gauges up on it and see at least your low side pressure. Just adding cans doesn't always work and like said earlier can actually make it worse. You probably need the system evacuated and recharged to start with. Then start looking for problems.
