Friend has a LS Vtec but the ECU is Thowing out a weird code. The light on the ECU blinks 3 Times and then the check engine light comes on and the car just dies out. What's causing this to happen?

 

code 3 is MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure)
make sure his tps & map sensor plugs are not switched for some stupid reason.

 

Make sure you have the vacume lines hooked up to your map sensor, Just in case you don't know what or where the map sensor is, its behind the intake manfold on the firewall, more towards the throttle body. It has a couple vacume lines going to it. But that is only if its a 88-91, if its obd2 then you map is on top of your throttle body and has a 3 plug connector. -Ben

 

ok, now when the vtec kicks you feel it but feels like the car is tied down and then all of a sudden it will work fine. what's causing this (the same prob. as above?)

 

Could be related to oil pressure if the vtec engages now but doesnt engage correctly... Any more ecu trouble codes?????

 

no chris...its just throwing a code 3. This shit is weird? We're gonna reset the ECU tommorrow and take things one step at a time. Could it be the Fuel Injectors?

 

make sure the map is T- off
injectors will throw a different code - 16.
