Im having problems with a 98' tranny,. i shift into 2nd and it grinds and pops out immediatly. could it be the gear,synchrsnizer in 2nd or what, any info would be greatly appreciated and if you have a single cam tranny f/s PM me.Thanks,

get gm syncromesh transmission fluid friction modified....its great stuff, works wonders....it could be the syncronizers or it could be the brass and bearings in the transmission being worn down....thats whats wrong with mine and it has the same symptoms as yours

 

Your synchros sound like they are wasted...

 

i had the same problem with 2nd gear for like 2-3 months...then it just stopped and never did it ever again

 

Take a day off, pull the bitch out and crack it open. You will need 3 bottles HONDA MTF, and both axle seals. Once you get it open look at the gears, take the jacked up lookg one to Honda, and get another(there may be order time involved, arrange for other modes of transportation.) Put everything in the same way it came out. Shouldn't cost more than $75. That's the cheapest route.

 

I had a third gear grind and got rid of it by adding some tranny fluid in................hasnt done it since

 

change you fluid (or atleast add some). if that doesn't work you'll have to take it appart and see what's going on. make sure you get someone to help you out cause its not easy for 1 person (plus you'll need another car to go your auto part store and home). Good Luck.

 

= Worn countershaft bearing. I have seen this many times. High probability that this is problem and the fix is normally around 50 max in parts.

 

I just got this tranny and im returning it...It has new tranny fuild in it... all i need is a good single cam tranny..
