Default Too much for a subject

I'm going to try and make this short. I got a 1995 B18b from a company. They will pickup the shipping back to them and refund my money if that's what I decide to do.

I started to drain the coolant from the block. The coolant was burnt. I have never smelt anything like it. Small to medium sized metal/cast shavings were coming out.

Pulled the oil pan, filter and baffle plate.

Yum! The company thought it was the water pump. So I pulled the water pump tonight and it seems to be fine. The outside of the sleeves where the coolant passages are has scraps for lack of a better term.

What are your thoughts? What would you do? I might just say fsck pulling the head tonight and send it back tomorrow.

This motor is/was going to see boost.

I have seen those scrapes on blocks before I think it happens when they finish machine the water pump ports. Were you planning on rebuilding this motor or running it straight outa the box. If you were going to rebuild it then it looks ok, just have it checked for cracks.

I called and talked to them today. I decided to send the motor back after all the findings. They are going to cover the shipping back to their facility. They said they would call me back today and let me know if they are going to pay to ship the new motor back here but I didn't get a call back. I will update tomorrow when I get the call. Everything is reassembled and ready togo back.

if you already paid for shipping on the motor the first time then they had better not charge you to send the second one given all that is screwed up. if they are reputable then they will eat the cost since they sent a shit motor to you, otherwise I'd get a FULL refund and take my bussiness elsewhere.

Everything has been taken care of as of today. They are picking up the shipping, shipping me a 1999 B18b with 36,000 miles on it and checking it over. I can't say enough about dealing with Randy. Reassembled as of last night and the pickup is tomorrow.
