what is the most effective things to do to this motor. its unusually quick. im guessing the basic intake/exhaust/fuel/spark?

what is a good cam/cam shaft.... what spark plugs work good, wires. basically somebody give me a good, basic setup for a d16vtec. no turbo/internals.. yet.

/end funk hijack

knowing how much money we're working with would help, also the "what are your goals" is going to be a factor....

My friend is building his D16A6. Not a bad motor at all. If yours is still good, there are some minor bolt ons and tuning that have gotten some into the high 14s.

I would say a good setup would be:

k&n filter
dc sports (ceramic headers) <----best for D series
2" exhaust, no cat
exospeed cam
d16y8 intake manifold
advance the timing on 93 octane
get some 13" VX/CX Honda wheels

With a good 60' this should easily net you in the mid to low 15s. With some tuning possibly 14s.

This is the setup we're doing on my friends car. Hope that helped.

Use 1k of it and make a custom turbo kit.Use the rest to build a d series or get a bare b series head and block and start building it.With the turbo kit u should be in the 14's and whatever u do to ur beseries will be up to u.

Oh...and this whole setup can be had for under $1000. My friend and I calculated $750 for all this + new axles and a clutch for his car (we do all the work). Something to think about to hold you over until you can save for a nice B series setup.

Or like theebluecrx said, do a nice well built D series turbo. It will cost a good deal of money, but I have seen and heard of D16 turbo EFs running easy 12s, boosting 10psi. Someone on Honda-Tech did an 11.7, on 10psi, with a basic D16Z6 turbo setup (done right!) in his '89 Si hatch.

So basicly you have 2 routes with that D series. Do a mild N/A build up for cheap or if you have the money run the D16 turbo setup, do that, but keep in mind you have alot of miles to be pushing around boost.

Hope that topped it off.

go to www.d-series.org lots of great d-series info there. If you want to boost specifically, go to www.turbod16.com great stuff there too.
