CRX blowing axles like crazy
My friend has a 90 CRX Si, He just got it less than a month ago, clutch was the first to go out, we replaced the clutch.
Then after a few days sharp left turns made the car feel like the axel was popping in and out of the tranny. So he goes to napa and gets another axle, put that in, first left turn and it does the same thing, When we take this axles out there are no bearings left on the tranny side, and the boots are torn up. Take that axle back to napa, go to discount get one, put that one in, last night it does the same thing.
Anyone have a clue what the problem could be?

i had the same exact problem with my 91' crx. Every auto parts store kept giving me civic axels insted of crx axles. There is a difference. I went to Honda and got oem axles and they worked.

your friend does no the Axel has to be hammerd in right? sounds to me like he is not putting the axel all the way in

i have this problem on my 00 si. I put axles in and they run smooth for a month or two and then they stop making popping noises on full turns.
Mikes drivelines tells me its it a problem with the shoulder coupling seperating and popping in and out...... something to that effect anyways.
Maybe my car is to low.. Dunno have another friend who had an EK with same problem. Havent found a remedy except to pt new ones in when i find the time and are extremley anoyed by the ones int here.
Have really looked for a remedy though.. Kind of just deal with it.

well yes if your car is driopped to low this may also have a facter and for you civicintegrasi might not be a problem with y0ouir drivers but if your car is to low your passanger axel will have problems seen it many times
