water spitting from exhaust?
when i start my car in the morning it will spit some black liquid from the exhaust. i thought is was fuel due to i am running rich but today i put my hand in front of the exhaust to catch some of the drops and i smell it. no smell to it at all. so im assuming its water. im guessing bad headgasket. any other ideas, suggestions?? thanks

well water is the by product of combustion, and maybe the black is just carbon in the exhaust that the water is picking up thereby turning it black...hopefully thats what it is.....

It's condensation. My car also does this almost every morning (depending on weather), except it's steam not white smoke. My car runs rich so there is alot of carbon in the exhaust which mixes with the condensation and BAMN - instant black line down the driveway.. My other hatch did this as well.
Not to worry..
