Hi,

I used to have a 88 STD hatch, i swapped a D16A6 SI engine and 5 speed tranny in. Was a quick little car when i had it running before i sold it.
Anyways, i may be getting a new car in maybe a month or more.
Ive got around 4000-5000 to spend on a car.
I really love hatches but i want a hatch that is at least a 93 and up model.
So im think at least a 5th gen.
They are a little heavier but i think they look better in my opinion.
Also, they had airbags standard in 92 models and in 94 they had 2 airbags for passenget also. Also, they all came with multi-port in their engines.
My question is.
If i was to get like lets say a 94 Hatch DX model how good are those engines for modding?
I dont wanna think about a swap until alot later in the future.
Would you recommend i stay away from the DX model and get an SI? Also, did all 5th gen hatches come with power steering?
I wanna buy one compeltly stock, hopefully from a owner who didnt race or dog the car hard.

 

Mod THAT engine? WHY?? If you have that much to spend find one for like 2 grand and throw an H22 in it. That's my opinion.
