Default How much can a D-series handle?

How much Power can the D-Series block handle before it blows? I have a friend that turbo'd it to 225 and it blew up. If the internals are in good condition and it was tuned right how much can the stock internals handle before they are no longer reliable.

And also how much boost can they handle? Could you use a stackable headgasket to lower the compression to increase boost?

I know someone out there has tried this before, just want some input before i put my turbo on the car.

Jan @ garage advances car is the one your speaking of. It blew up shortly after the 11 sec pass. It will be back.

yeah my girl had her car tuned @ Garage advance, they do some crazy things with stock blocks. so keep it under 10 psi to be safe or is that still 2 much, i planned on taking it to Al (garage advance) to let them tune it anyway. just wanted a better street ride without sacraficing my daily driver.

the rods can handle about 225 hp but just as long as you dont have any detonation you should be fine for up to 10-12 psi... just make sure youre getting enough fuel for ur setup
