Ok I'm not sure if I am understanding this correctly when I pointed the timing gun at the crank pulley it centered on the middle mark at 5 degrees advance acording to the dail on the gun. It seems I would have to turn the distributer all the way as far foward towards the front of the engine bay as possible to even come close to 18 degrees unless 0 on the gun represents 16 to honda in which I would need to only advance it to 2 degrees acording to the gun making it 18 degrees to honda Im a little lost seeing as this is my first time using a timing gun myself. Is there any way I could swing by the shop and you show me? Or am I right?

set the dial to zero and the light should flash on the red line on the crank pulley for 16 degrees. If you want to kno your exact timing, turn the knob until the light flashes on the WHITE line (has to match up with the crank pulley mark on your timing belt cover) and then look at what the knob is at, that will tell u your timing. Also make sure you jump the service connector or the ecu will change the timing.

ok. well I had forgoten about the service connector and I found that the timing was WAAAAAAAAAAY!!! past 18 deg advanced so on 87 octane for the last few months with like 40 degree advanced timing Id say I've been pretty lucky but now I am running 18 deg 40 psi with the hose off and 93 octane so I should be good to go now. Thanks for all the advice guys. And I offically feel like a complete moron
