Default Honing Grit?

Hey I just whent and picked up a honing tool from the local auto parts store, and it came with 300 grit honing blocks on it. Is this an ok grit to finish honing with? or should i go with a higher grit to finish it? all helps appreciated -Ben

that is a perfect grit as long as you do it up and down and dont keep it in one place

If the rings are sealing, it shouldn't smoke. Break-in time will be 1000 miles, like a normal rebuild.

You have providing good info on honing grit. According to me higher grit is always better then others. You should go with higher one that gives you better performance. Thanks.
