CRX: Engine Not Starting...

We have another issue, We have a DX distributor, is the Si any different than the DX one? Its still backfiring from the intake manifold, Which is a strange sight to say the least...

yeah if the timing is way off there will be valve to piston contact, but if it is off little bit it will miss sort of like a sputter and idle bad in some cases like it wants to stall and it will run like crap. firing order is the position of where the wires coming from the plug connects to the distributor cap. for example #1 spark plug wire may connect to the upper rear connect point on the dizzy #2 might connect to the lower rear and so on. mostly on hondas its either clockswise or counterclockwise, example 1,2,3,4 facing the front of the engine or 4,3,2,1 facing the rear of the engine. your best bet is to find someone with a si and look to see how thier firing order goes, also you might want to use the dizzy that came with the head.

Success! It was the spark plug wire order on the distributor. Done up the way Ian said, and she started purring like a kitten. :o

Eh, A little more trouble. The motor starts and everything, But there is play in the drive plate, And we think that its making a really nasty knocking sound. The motor isn't knocking its the drive plate, We think. So, do we need to drop the transmission and tighten the drive plate?

thats good your car is running glad to help, is the car auto or stick. are yuo sure that is a si cause the pic looks like a dx motor.

you will have to drop the tranny cause it looks like what is called a flex plate might be loose or you might have a bad torque convertor.

the motor block says d16a1. Ya i guess we will have to drop the tranny. The block and head is a si but the body is a dx.
