who makes good b18b1 ls cams?
that is the minimum i have ever seen made off of crower stage 2 (403s) ls cams, and keep in mind for a non vtec motor its alot harder to make an aggressive cam because you dont have the vtec lobe to make huge with the stock profile before vtec..... ls cams only have one profile so to make it huge and make massive power you would lose all streetability and the car wouldnt idle to well... but the money you spend in valve train is also not all about making power, its about having a more reliable, stronger motor, that is capable of utilizing what power it does have, better, because it has the capability to rev higher and take full advantage of the larger cams.... Theres alot more to consider when decidingif its worth the money than just how much power the cams and valvetrain will make, think about the abuse they will be able to take and how much of that power will actually be used.....

true i talked to the tech from crane and he said the only way you should run stock springs and retainers is if they are really fresh.. think of the damage you can have if something fugsup.. if you float a valve you wasted alot of $ ...for nothing.. and my car does idle like a bitch by the way.. but i don't have cam gears or have any tuning yet.. i still notice a real nice difference though.. does anyone know someone with experience tuning these cams??

From cams with higher lift and duration, valve springs are definitely recommended. You don't want to risk valve float, especially since the ls valvetrain isn't good for much above 6700rpm.

____ Especially because those cams don't even peak until 8000rpm..

The LS motor wasn't made to be a rev monster. It shouldn't be rated as one which is what your doing. It's job is to make power lower in the RPM band. You're also looking at peak power... look at the power across the band. Those cams are very good.
tuning is key.... properly tuned some non vtec cams can make power up till 8k......yeah torque will drop off but once the car gets movin good its all about horsepower to keep it movin.....
