i know many of you don't really know me.. but about a month ago i finally got my 87 CRX project started.

just this week i finished the front suspension (had to wait for $$ for parts.

front suspension consists of:

Mugen 25.2mm torsion bars
Koni Yellows
89 Integra Knuckles & Brakes


Next on the ToDo list is to take the rear suspension off the integra, and install it in the CRX. It weighs more than the CRX's suspension but the performance gain is worth the 30 or so lbs i will add to the car.

By using the integra's rear suspension i get a rear sway bar (the HF has none), and disc brakes back there.

Next up:
removing a couple engines (the D16A1 from the integra, and the carb'd 1.5 from the HF).

after that: overhaul all the oil seals in the D16A1 going in (not the same one that is being pulled from the integra, that one will be a spare). change the timing belt, water pump, oil pump too.
replace the shift linkage on the CG tranny (the only one i have) from the integra, and do all this engine work while i...

completely rewire the CRX using the integra harness. I also intend on replumbing the CRX fuel system for the fuel injected engine.

then once the wiring and fuel system stuff are done. then i will install the D16A1 into the CRX.

once the car is running, then i will work on the aesthetic stuff
like replacing the damn broken plastic bodywork .

not toi soundlike a dick but seems like a big waste of time and money to me why a D series engine ? Drop a nice mid mileage B18 in there thatd fly better than that D series and It just seems like a shit load of work for such a hunk !

 

a B18 is a very expensive swap for this car (mounts are $675, and axles are another couple hundred. shift linkage is extra too). and i lose A/C to do it. the D16A1 bolts right in.

this is a DAILY DRIVER project car.

the car may be a 'hunk' as you put it, but its a 1700 lbs hunk

also, the car is being built for HANDLING. not acceleration. if i wanted acceleration i would not have started with a honda in the first place.
