92-95 Civic Si/EX what gives ?
5G 92-95 Civic Si USA EG/EH D16Z6 1590 9.2:1 125@6600/106@5200
this is what im finding under the chasis codes.
Im confused, everything im seeing for this year series mainly 93 is that the coupe and hatch have the same Powerplants and trannys. lemme explain...
92 and 93 Civic's hatch and coupe both have D16Z6 (Si) powerplants, 94 went to the D16Y8 EX specific power plant, both chasis codes are listing under Si, EG and EH. My 93 EX has the D16Z6 with Black Powder Coated valve cover that doesnt say VTEC. Im questing the model and chasis for that year. could the 93 Coupe be an Si as well, mine wasnt badged at all besides the H badge. Ive also found two different specs on that years D16Z6, EX listed 125hp and 104trq, while the Si listed 125hp and 111trq. My undertanding its the same exact engine. Same CR and everything could this be different gearing ? I dont see how since they both have the same tranny ?
Why would this year (93) only be like this ? only fluke ive seen so far ! Transition year ? First Civic Si coupe ? My insurance denied my EX claim wheni filed and listed it as a Civic no model denoted ?
Can anyone supply me with some more info, every chart and book i look at says its an Si EG/EH EGbeing hatch EH being coupe ?

its listing the Y8 in 94+ and 92-93 EX has Z6 Si keeps Z6 through 95 switching to B16. The 94+ EX has Y8 with different tranny code. The 92-93 EX looks exactly the same numbers wise as the Si. Why would it list those two chasis codes in 92-93 and then switch in 94 to EH only for y8 ? See what im saying ? Its like they didnt have a EX specific engine for the 92-93 EX and just used a Si powerplant for the EX until the Y8 was introduced, even the haynes manual denotes this ? Im confused.
92-95 JDM Si = B16 Hatch EG
92-95 USDM Si=D16 Hatch EG
92-95 USDM EX=D16 Coupe EH
No Actual EX is listed in 92-95 its under the Si as the EH chasis, In 96 they added the denotion of the EX specific model and chasis with the D16Z7,D16Y8VTEC.
94 the EX had the other engines optional seperate from the Si but was never a Actual Model until 96 ?
Looks like the EX in 92-93 was a option USDM coupe version of the Si. Some denoted Si/EX. This isnt making since ! Every Chart i read contradicts itself.

Along with acquiring a more aerodynamic wedge-shaped body, the Civic was expanded in dimensions and trim levels for 1992. Wheelbases now measured in at 101.3 inches for the two-door hatchback and 103.2 inches for the four-door sedan. The wagon was dropped.
Trim levels for the hatchback included the CX, DX, VX and Si. The CX was fitted with a 1.5-liter 70-horsepower engine; the DX with a 1.5-liter 102-horsepower engine; the VX with a 92-horsepower 1.5-liter with variable valve timing tuned for economy (VTEC-E); and the Si with a 125-horsepower VTEC engine. The VX, which also came with lightweight alloy wheels, managed fuel economy figures of 48 in the city and 55 on the highway — nearly the same as the old CRX HF in spite of 30 more horsepower and five-passenger capability. Only Sedans came in the trim levels DX, LX and EX (which added a power moonroof to its list of standard luxuries). The DX and LX had the 1.5-liter 102-horsepower engine, and the EX sported the 125-horse 1.6 from the Si. A five-speed manual was standard across the board, and a four-speed automatic was only optional on the DX hatchback and all sedan models.
The level of safety increased with the new Civic via a standard driver-side airbag for all models and standard antilock (ABS) brakes on the EX sedan.
A two-door notchback coupe, which shared its 103.2-inch wheelbase with the sedan, debuted for 1993 and was offered in DX and EX trim levels. The DX was outfitted the same as the DX hatchback, and the EX coupe had the same features as the EX sedan, including the 125-horse engine and power moonroof. An option package for the EX coupe added a passenger airbag and high-power stereo with cassette player. The EX sedan had a few more items added to its already generous standard features list, including air conditioning and the high-power sound system with cassette player.
This is straight from honda ? and it contradicts itself again ? is the 93 Ex a damn Si ? The Y8 is only a 6thGen engine and some charts dont list the EX until 96 92-93 nevr had an EX 94+ did have an EX model.

Is it just me or is the 92-93 Coupe With the D16Z6 an Si ? and the coupe is a EX and then in 94 they added the EX badging to the coupe and called it an EX ? and gave it its own trim level in 96 with the Y8 engine ?
92-93 EG/EH Civic is Si 92-94 had Trims denoted by VX DX EX LX etc 96+ these Trims Became Models. The Actual EX is a EJ Chasis in 96 with the Y8 and Z7.
92-93 Coupes With D16Z6VTEC are Si's ! with the EX trim options hence no visible hard badging on the car. The only EX Model in these years are the Sedan with the same motor with an auto tranny.
So basicly 92-93 EX coupe is an Si Civic Coupe. Just with the EX trim. Must be a transition Year thing ?
