I think I have a bad one for my 5th gear on the Tranny for a b16a3...how much work would this be to replace, and how much would it cost?

It's a lot of WORK, i don't know how much it would cost to have someone do it though. You might be better off just buying a new tranny.

5th gear is the easy gear to deal with, but in the case of a hydro b16 might be cheapper if you take it all the car yourself and have it done and put it back on yourself

what happens if I never get it replaced or whatever...will it break something, or is it just annoying, and I will have to double clutch so that it wont grind?

Try the Syncromesh. I may have a spare 5th gear around the shop. I'll check.

labor on a gear reaplcement is like 3-4shop hours at 70$ an hour. They are a bitch to do , you gotta remove the entire caeing gear shaft and just about everything else realted. The 5th gear synchro uisnt that bad but everything till has to be removed. Your look ing at some cash if you cant do it yourself. BUt lemme put it this way. Honda 99.9% of the time doesnt fix tranys we replace them, its like a harely once you crack that caseopen it willnever run right again.

your 5th gear is like anywhere from $80-105 bucks. I would buy from hondautomotiveparts.com or net dont remember which one.

Changing out gears to replace is easy if you know your basic stuff. Or you can take it to cory and have him rebuild you the tranny. the black one. lol.
