Exclamation Broken Bolt removal tips

I was attempting to take off my pulley the one attached to the crankshaft and the head of the bolt snapped i have tried just about everything... I tried drilling it out with an easy out, using a left hand drill bit the main problem is finding somethign that will grab teh easy out like a socket or a wrench there isnt a lot of clearence due to the frame and the wheel well... if there is any mechanic secret on takening it out of if anyone else has any fresh ideas jsut keep in mind there is a hole already in teh bold for the easy out.

When I was working at a Honda repair shop a Prelude came in with the bolt broken and I tried to get the bolt out with an easy out and it would not budge and almost was to the pouint of breaking the easy out itself which was a #5, pretty stout one. We ended up just giving the guy the car back unfixed.

A machine shop ciould probably get it out but they won't usually toch something like that unless you brought them just the motor on a stand or something.

You may want to try heating the crank up with a torch and then spraying with PB balster let it soak then heat it up again and respray it. Do this a couple of times and then try to back the bolt off.

I don't want to sound too pessimistic but you may end up needing a new shortblock or crank.

Last resort: take the engine out and have someone weld something to the tip of the bolt and pull it out, or just take it out drill the hole out and tap it.

i do the same on all of these try heating it, or weld a rod of some sort to it and get better leverage, your prolly better off taking itto a machin shop. drop the crank and take to a shop.
