Question head swap

Well, I figured out what was wrong with my d15B1. 1 of the exhaust valves had a quarter of it missing. So I went to junkyard and pulled a head off of a B2. My friend told me if I got the head and ECU, it is about a 20hp upgrade. Only, I think it is slower. I even swapped the ECU's a few times and there is no difference. What's the deal...is this kid BSing me???

D15B1 1.5 8V SOHC PGM-FI 1493 70hp@5500rpm 83tq@3000rpm 88-?? Civic

D15B2 1.5 16VSOHC PGM-FI 1493 92hp@6000rpm 89tq@4500rpm 88-91 Civic DX/LX

I found two stats for the D15B2, one is the HF and one is the DX, one being 62 and one being 92, the difference is, other than gearing, the DX head is a 16 valve. Is that the head you swapped a 16 valve?

when you do that swap you have to swap the intakemanifold and throttlebody otherwise your just tring to suck more air into that straw sized intake and manifold, which is restricting the air flow, so swap out the IM and TB and let me know!

yep, when I did the swap, I kept the valve cover, and it says 16 valve. I also have a multi port intake that I haven't swapped in yet. Can I slap that intake on, or is there other parts I may need like distributor or engine harness??

Oh, and I think all the d15B1's went 16 valve in 89. I think, don't hold me to that.

you need the dx or si (MPFI) IM and TB to make that extra HP and 1 other thing you might need is the dx or si map sensor!
