does the light stay on while the engine is running ?

If the light comes on when the connector isn't jumped, then stays when you jump it... it's your ECU.
Are your revs limited at all? If so, how many rpms?

To see what a code actually looks like, unplug your map sensor on the top of your throttle body while you have the ecu jumped
To get rid of the code, reset your ecu via neg battery term.

I know what an ecu code looks like and have a complete listing of number of flashes to which numbered code. But I have never had my CEL stay on when I have the ECU jumpered.
