2001 Tranny questions

OK i need a new tranny for my 01 civic 1.7 litr HX Vtec-E must be a manual and i need it like a midget needs stilts...does anyone knowif any other tranny will fit other than one made for my specific vehicle i heard that any normal civic 1.6 or 1.7 will fit does anyone know is this is true..i would be very grateful to anyone who could clear this up for me

You can contact your local honda parts dealer to find out if the dx/lx tranny is compatible with the ex motor vice versa.

More then likely they are crosscompatible like bseries & dseries trannys.

The only places I know that might have a 2k1-2k3 civic tranny are:
importautosalvage.com
ebay.com
or any local salvage yard like starkey autosalvage etc.

or if you have too, new from honda.... ouch

The older trannies will probably bolt up to the motor but from what I saw by looking at it the mounts are a good bit different. Might now bolt into your car well.
