you are NOT supposed to break in a motor with synthetic. the best would be a non-detergent(ND) cheap oil believe it or not. it is not as 'slippery' as synthetic and will shorten the break in process as opposed to synthetic.

i work for an oil changing place, u see some people running stupid shit, a guy in a ford truck with 135,000 miles asked for 5w30 weight oil and he had a front main seal, rear main seal, oil pan gasket and oil sending unit leak... or the guy in the range rover discovery who got his oil changed at 8,000 miles than came back in at 42,000 for his 2nd one, pulled the drain plug and nothing came out b/c there was so much sludge.

Used Castrol 10w-30 for my break in period on my engine.

I now use Mobil 1 5w-50 and Honda filter, changed every 1500 miles.

Stock motor, 5w-30 or 10w-30, Mobil or Castrol. Syntec is a waste for daily drivers, used best on racing time periods.

On high compression motor with bigger cams, its very critical on oil selection, since heat expands, i.e. rod bearings, crank, etc.
