2004 S2000 Engine Design - Keys to Note:
The engine code designation is F22C1 to denote the 2.2 liter size.
Cylinder bore is 87.0 mm and stroke is 90.7 mm to have a 1:1.04 bore-stroke ratio. The slightly undersquare design provides better torque at lower rpm.
For comparison, the 2000-2003 model's cylinder bore is 87.0 mm and stroke is 84.0 mm for a 1:0.96 bore-stroke ratio.
Continues to use traditional VTEC instead of i-VTEC as on the K-series motors.
Where F20C was known to offer significant power from 6000 rpms onward, the F22C supposedly comes on very strong at only 3000 rpms.
Honda asserts that the '04 S2000 offers measurably stronger acceleration in each gear

 

My roommate (95gsr) pulled on one pretty good last night, 3 times i think. his car is definitely not slow by any means but i expected a little more from the new s2000's.....

bottom line, im not impressed

I would have taken bets on the s2k.

The 2k-2k3 s2k's put down a 14.4-5 in the 1/4
Unless you're friend has a heavily modified GSR there is no way he could touch those numbers.

 

yea im sure because the guy is our neightbor. and its not a heavily modded gsr, all oem honda internals, but it did 180whp. plus the guy in the s2k probably wasnt the best driver in the world

Depends on what you're going for.

 

g35 is a nice car also, it would be a hard choice between the 2.

 

My Dad made the right choice and got the G35.........when I took it to homecoming I spanked an s2000 on 75............with a hot ass girl in the car. A perfect end to a perfect night.................
