Question Dead B18a1

I have a dead b18a1, how I know for sure it's dead is the fact that there is a 1" x 2" hole in the block. I'm not sure yet if the head is damaged too or not. I have a few aquantances that have a b18b block that's just laying around and will sell it to me for 70 bucks.

question: Will a a1 head work on a b1 block. Also, the b1 block is bare and I'll need to get a crank, rods, pistons, oil pan, ect. Is there any certian combos to make for a good LS bottom end with out spending a crap load of money?

Thank you very much, and if any of you would like to discuss this topic you can IM me at mrdoveman via AOL, Compuserve, or AIM.

you say that it WILL, but how much work does it entail (sp). would I be better off spending the extra cash for a b1 head or a a1 block?

I'm thinking about getting a B16 and putting a turbo kit on it for the crx (89 Si), so I don't know if I should worry about spending a little bit of money on getting it running or spend a few more hundred to get the b16. Any comments on that?

The only other question I have is if the ECU I have now will work fine with the b1 block or if I'll have any problems with the wiring at all. I don't want to have to worry too much about making it work, I just want my baby back.

You mentioned combos, Dont Sleep is running ITR pistons in his LS and it seems to be pretty quick, just an idea. I would definately save for a swap though, preferrably GSR.
