Default Clutch

What are you running or what do you recommend for high torque applications (Vapor, 60-1EK, 99B16Si, Taylor Durdan, quickcivic)? I don't want to replace the clutch after a couple visits to BMP.

i personally have had a really good experience with my ACT clutch. the same heavy duty pressure plate, not extreme, has been in my car for about 60,000 boosted miles and has yet to give me one problem. i did have to switch from a full disk to a 6puck about 20k miles ago but that was only because the motor was exceeded to clutch packages torque capacity. the 6puck took it up to 311tq so i think thatll do for a while. and its not to grabby once u get used to it, i drive it everyday to school and work

ive also heard a lot of good things about clutchnet clutches but lack the personal experience

I honestly don't care about pedal pressure so ... I'm looking into the Tilton twin disc cerametallic clutch later tonight. I'm going to give ACT a call and see about their MaXX Xtreme pressure plates and Xtreme race discs or see what they would recommend for my application. Exedy makes a very nice twin plate clutch too.

i have an CAT in my turbo si, its a 6 puck but its a sprung hub to give it some better drivability, but still holds the power,

in my hybrid hatch i have a 6 puck act UN sprung, and a clutchnet pressure plate that i took to bay city and had them adjust the fulcrum points on it to make it stronger....and because clutchnet rivoted the diaphragm together and screwed it up right out of the box......they suck as far as help.

but both of them hold around the 300 mark and do just fine on the street........

remember, a clutch that is too strong will net more wheelspin per gear change, and true racing clutches werent meant for daily driving not because they are hard on your foot, but because they are too hard on the tranny, something has to give and it is usually the tranny or cheap driveline parts.....................

ive been thru a million clutches

You stated the exact reasons why I sold my other clutch and I am not jumping into buying another clutch. I need something that will hold over 300 ft-lbs (84mm B16a 9.2:1 SC61 465whp - 535whp so a little over 300 ft-lbs).

i would call bay city clutch they can make you a clutch for EXACTLY what you want as far as HP numbers, whether it be cramic, organic, carbon, whatever. they are cool and are local. but if not a sprung 6puck from act will hold and be drivable, and most importantly it will last.....but ask them what PP they recommend

Alpha,

I have the clutchmasters stage 5 iron disk in my car. So far it has held at 330 ftlbs trq with no problems. We will see come TR day on slicks, but it will help rip the 225 drag radials off the pavement at a blip of the right pedal.
