Default What causes a O2 sensor to go bad???

Hey guys so i had problems with my o2 sensor a couple of months ago. The car was bogging between 3,000-4,000 rpms so i replaced it with a oem one, and the whole time it was going bad it never coded. Now it has been 2 months and the o2 sensor is starting to go again its boggin between those rpms again. What causes the o2 to go is it running to lean, to rich, to much this or to much that.
Why is this going bad so soon???

thanks Spencer

That does not make much sence...
It should code if its going bad.

I recommend you use a voltmeter & a helms or haynes manual & check the proper a/f output on you're vehicle.
I believe it should read .1 volts while the car is cold (1st start up in the morning). Then once the car is warm & you hit the throttle it jumps to 1 volt max... I am not positive on that... I forgot the specs, but they are in the manual.

Btw, if you're 02 sensor is giving you a proper reading on the white wire & you're car is still doing what its doing, I recommend looking into othere causes like a Cap & Rotor replacement & spark plug wire & plug replacement.

Good Luck.

Your oxygen sensor can go bad if you are using leaded fuel and/or running pig rich too often...It will be less accurate and you will notice a loss in power...

Cause this is a comon thing when o2's go bad you have a bogging between 3,000 and 4,000 rpms so when i replaced it it went away after 2months its a back again!!!!

Spence, you are not very smart buddy...
Do what I told you to do... buy a dam manual and troubleshoot you're 02 sensor...

I guarantee you, since you're ecu is not throwing a 02 code you probably will see normal a/f voltages being outputted by you're 02 sensor hence you're 02 sensor is not bad...

I honestly think this bogging down crap is either in you're head or you need to tune up you're ignition (cap, rotor etc).

i agree with mtber

generally o2 go bad from bad A/F mixtures or from 60-100k of usage

and i know you dont rack on that many miles in 2 months

have you checked your spark plugs? what do they look like?

are you running too lean? rich? worn down?
