i got a 97 prelude, and i ran through some water, and my car started puttering so i shut it down, and took it to the mechanic, they took off the valve cover and cleaned out the water, it never hydro locked. So after i got it back vtec wasnt there at all , i changed the oil and it came back, but its still not like it use to be before the water happen, it doesnt pop. there are no weird engine noises, the motor runs good, no engine lights nothing just vtec isnt as loud and doesnt act the same, any help?? before i spend alot of money to take it to a mechanic?? thanks

If Vtec engages and its not as strong, check your timing and check your compression...It sounds like you have lost compression in one of your cylinders...
