If Vtec engages and its not as strong, check your timing and check your compression...It sounds like you have lost compression in one of your cylinders...

IF its a timing problem iTS repairable,IF its losing power
do to bad piston rings you might need a rebuild........

Things you should do:
Compression Test
Leak Down Test
Replace Ignition Plugs
Check oil pressure
