Default kyb shocks, should i get them?

Are getting the kyb gr-2 gas shocks pretty much the same as getting oem's? My friend said so, and I was just wondering if it was true. I was thinking of getting they kyb's since I'm dropping my car about 2.5 inches. I'm not going to be any autocrosssing just want to take turns better. Also, if anyone has these shocks/struts, I would like to know how the ride is. Thanks in advance for any help!

they're a little bit better than oem. i'd say spend the extra dough on kyb agx's. best adjustable strut for the price!

Why would you want to drop the car that much?

edit: if you're going to be doing it that much, get a higher quality damper like Tokico Illuminas or Koni Yellows. 2.5" needs the best dampers.....

i agree completely. Get either Tokico Whites, or Blues. Whites a little better with options but, definatly worth the extra cash.

idk if I'd even say get the tokico illuminas, I have them and I'm not THAT impressed with them. Either save for a full coilover setup or get the koni yellows. Always remember "you get what you pay for".

If you lower your car more than 2", there is no strut on the market thats gonna take that abuse and work within its effieincy range...Basically you're gonna have to get a Real Coilover to lower it that much without creating a bouncy car...

You may get away with it if you use the GroundControl Strut tops that raise the whole assembly about an inch, giving the strut about an inch more travel...
