Hondas hold up just fine when treated well... just like any other engine. Since you have no idea how the motor is doing, why not get the simple tests to tell you if the motor is worth 'putting on the simple bolt-ons'...? Take it to a shop and have them do a compression test and a leakdown test. These are two tests to give you a general idea of the health of the motor.

when u look at the car it is a good idea to ask for maintenance records and receipts (in my opinion) and also do a carfax report to see if the car has ever been wrecked or anything else..... i also like to take cars that i might buy to shops to have the compression and leakdown tests run plus a regular diagnostics test and of course if you buy it i would suggest if the timing belt hasnt been changed yet go ahead and do that and at least an oil change if not a full tune up..... thats just my opinion

Check under the oil cap and see if it is all black and crusty, if so they slacked on oil changes, don't buy it. Let eh car sit for awhile make sure there are no leaks.

Water pumps are a common thing to go on Honda's with around that many miles on them, I don't think anybody posted that but just something else to keep in mind!

Other than that the B18C is about the best Honda motor to modify. Some people have their own opinions but mechanically piece by piece from what I hear it's hard to call a clear cut winner between that and the B16A...

Good luck.

I think they are great! Definately get an adult owned car with NO mods done to it!! (like John said) My friend bought a 4-door Ac and after doing so regretted it. She wished she had gotten a 2-door. How come you dont want a 2-door? Personally, I dont like my car full of people or being capable to put alot of people in it- heh liablilty. But anyhoo, good luck finding a car and I believe you will like the b18c1.
