Question need info on wiring vtec to a switch

my boy has a 90 civic hatch with a B16A.... not too long ago his ecu was stolen and he is stuck using the stock ecu wich does not open vtec... i was wondering how hard it would be and if anyone knows how to wire his vtec to a switch temporarily until he can get the funds to buy the PR3........ the car runs fine but is severely lackin without vtec... if anyone knows how to do this please IM me on AOL at importmayhem1@aol.com or if anyone knows a link to a website where i can get a diagram to do this please send it to me via email or private message... thank you

I could be wrng, but that doesn't seem practical or possible. Tell him to call one of the many shops or junkyards around here and find an ECU.

the non obd b series vtec ecu's are nearly impossible to find right now and when u do find them they want way too much.... i know a few people that have vtec wired directly to a switch and it worked fine but like i said this is just a temporary fix until he has the money to buy the ecu......

you can just run it off one of the relays up buy your headlights. Or just buy a relay. Its really easy. Buy a toggle switch run the wire and your done. Switch it one whenever. Two wires total.

acuttaly forgot, one also come from the VTS. So you have the VTS wire ran to the relay and then from the relay to the switch from wherever you seat it.

im not sure u can use it without the MSD box... although thats mainly for shift lights etc., now that u mention it it sounds like it should work... thats a good idea... might have to try that

Don't do this. The stock ecu will run it lean in vtec (if you run a switch), maybe a little too lean and your friend will have to end up replacing a motor along with an ecu. Do it right with an ecu or don't do it at all.

If you need an ecu try contacting:
Joe Locash of locash racing, www.locahracing.com
or
Kenji Plennert
kenji211@tampabay.rr.com

Both deal in alot of ecu's. Not sure if Kenji has any pr3's or pw0's laying around but Joe probably does.
