Tech Questions on tranny and brake conversions and possible future setup.

If I do an auto-manual conversion on my CIVIC. Will I need a ECU from a manual. Does it matter which year CIVIC EX I get it from?

Is it possible to install the rear brake assembly of a CIVIC Si 99-00 on a 98 CIVIC without swapping the full rear suspension. I was asking this, because I recently bought a lower tie bar and it says it fits on 96-98 EXs and 99-00Si.

I previously planned to bore my block to 1.8 and have it sleeved. Port&Polish my head and throttlebody, portmatch my intake manifold, install aftermarket valvetrain [springs, valves and retatainers] (want to be able to rev up to 8300-8600 safely, but will set rev limiter 300rpms less) D16A6 pistons to raise my compression, ARP stud bolts, D16A6 or ZC rods, AEM fpr along w\ my current bolt-ons and a V-TEC Controller/chipped ECU(5300 V-TEC) and use car as a daily driver. What's the minimum octane that I would be able to safely use(89,91). All this on my SOHC VTEC D16Y8. My desired 1/4 mile time is at least very low 15s/high 14s, add 1 second if tranny conversion is not done.

Any advice, input, info, questions etc.

you want the manual ecu, 96 to 98. you would want to switch over the rear trailing arm when doing the brake swap, you could just move the hub over to your trailing arm but It's more difficult and I've never seen them sold that way. Technically you could just swap the rear trailing arm over off of any 90+ civic or integra that had rear disks as long as you use the lca, uca, and alignment slider off your current car. Example you could use the complete rear trailing arm off of a 90 crx si and as long as you keep the stuff I mentioned you will be fine.

Undecided on which cams to use.

Thanks, I'll try to keep this in mind. Anyone else?

There really isn't enough activity in this forum for you to NEED to keep bumping it every hour, please stop.

Oh yeah if you do the rear brake swap you will want ebrake cables off of a 99-00 si, 94+ integra might also work.
