timing check after rewire..

timing check after rewire..
I know this might sound stupid but do I need to check my timing if I unplug the distributor wires on the top of the distributor?(the two small wires that go into a plug right on the distributor itself) I didnt want to start the car and something go wrong or mess something up. Just making sure.
