b16 head + OBD-0 Dizzy

i bought a OBD-0 distributor and i noticed that only 1 bolt lines up on my b16 head. my friend has the same distr. on his b16 and only one bolt lines up too. he has one of the mounting "arms" of the distr grinded off to clear the vtec solenoid.

Is this how ur supposed to do it? seems like 1 bolt on such a vital part like the distr seems risky.

any suggestions?

sounds to me like a Ls distributor cause all pr3 heads are the same with all dohc Vtec distributors that has to be the wrong one take off the distributor cap look inside see if you see on the shaft there is alot of teeth under that there sould be only 1tooth kindda fat for vtec does your friend have a VTEC controller if so then it mite be a ls distibutor

I agree, there was a thread while ago in which KJ explained hoe to make an LS dizzy fit on a B16, it sounded very similar to what you are describing. Find someone with a bare dizzy, gut yours and trow it in there.

Yeah that is an ls dizzy. All b series vtec distributors have the same bolt patterns and match perfectly. You can run on the one bolt if you have to but it will tend to leak a little. You can slow it down with a new o-ring. The internals from the ls dizzy will fit nicely into a b16a1 dizzy. If all that was bad on the b16a1 dizzy was the igniter or coil those can even be sourced from single cam distributor. There are ways to switch over the shaft and bearings but I've never tried it.

yup ls dizzy, i really didn't wanna go through the trouble of swapping out dizzy internals, and i didn't relaly trust only one bolt so i just waited and searched really hard for an OBD-0 b16a dizzy, they aren't as easy to find as u think they are!

You can buy brand new ones, yes new b16a1 distributors from locash racing. Price is like $250. But for that price I'd just convert to obd1.

Hell yea, OBD1 is better anyway(IMO).
