start up problem

Default start up problem

I have a 92 vx hatch with 1.5 vtec when the car is cold and i try to start it, it starts up and idles real low for about 5 sec then it stalls i start it up agian and does the same thing after i do it a few times the motor warms up enough and it will run fine the rest of the day unless the motor cools down. so if anyone may know why i need help.

Fuel filter? i'm just guessing, throwing ideas out there that you may want to check. Oh i would check the plugs too.

sounds like you need to adjust your throttle cable and clean out the Throttle body passages

how does the car idle when warmed up? @ what rpm?

the problem maybe you need a simple tune up ...but it sounds to me like the motor is getting choked off on cold start..metal has not expanded yet and all the gunk is blocking up the fast idle passages

it idles at 800 rpms when its warmed up

check the idle air control,make sure its plugged in?
