Unhappy Exhaust Setup for a 88 Civic HB

Hey everyone, I need some advice for my car....

I need a new catalytic converter for my car so I see this as a good time to upgrade my whole exhaust system

A local shop in my town wants to charge me 345 to change everything to the cat converter back to the muffler, so I will be getting a new converter, new pipes and a new muffler... but since I have a Civic HB, I am still wondering how a regular exhaust pipe would work on my car...

Would it be a better idea just to buy a cat converter and a muffler and take it to their shop and let them put it on or should I go with their parts (they make custom parts, so the parts are not name brand) ???

Any advice would be helpful to me right now because I hate that noise that my cat makes right now

I do not want to spend more than $300 in total for everything.

Also, if I do but my own parts, what site is good to buy them from because I see cat converters($60 with shipping) and mufflers(60 with shipping) on EBay???
