My motor was just rebuilt and on the first start up after about 15mins the exaust started smoking with white smoke. Th e car before i built the motor was burnuing oil really bad could that be left over oil in the exaust from before. Also my valves are not set right could that be the cause, and also the headers were left outside could that be the cause. Any help will be great.

chances are if it took them over a week to rebuild it, they had to put a lil oil on the cylinder walls to keep from getting contact rust. its usual for a car after a rebuild to smoke for the first day while it burns up that oil. how do u know the valves weren't set right?

 

is it still smoking, if it smokes still after 2 days i'd bring it back and ask them about it, if it was only for the 15 mins or a day don't worry about it.

 

Yea smoking on first start up is normal
