Default engine block etc..

I wantted to clean all this grease and oil off the engine block, transmisson and head. Is there any thing that works really well? Or is there a place that does this cause I want my engine to be perfect before I drop it in and look nice and pretty. If you look at my old car it was ugly but fast.
