Default ### Exhaust Question ###

I want to upgrade the exhaust on my 99 GSR and do not want a loud muffler. Has any heard anything good or bad about the Ractive Mugen style recirculating muffler? Or any suggestions for a particular brand?

The mugen exhaust is overpriced. It is a clean exhaust but prolly not worth the money.

If you want something quiet on your gsr but that something that has a higher flow, get your self a OEM type-r exhaust system or go to a exhaust shop & have them make you a test pipe with a 2 1/2 inch exhaust to a dyno max muffler & a resignator sold at your local discount auto parts store.

This will give you more flow & better performance without sounding like ass

Good luck...

oh, type-r catback exhaust wont work then.. :-/

I recommend you get a test pipe, a resignator, custom piping & a dynomax muffler.

Since your only going to need 2 and 1/4 not 2 and 1/2 piping since your running a gsr header....

Go to ice cold air, rainbow muffler or any normal muffler shop.
Just have them make you a strait pipe from the header to the dynomax.

Have them add a resignator under the shiftlinkage area & you should be set.

THERMAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT those exhaust are real real quiet and you can definetly feel the power it adds. those exhaust systems are tuned to mid-range to high-end power. but since your car is a four door dont know if they would have a application for your car. but its worth a try to find out cause the rewards are great.

StreetDriven,

Do you have life?

I stated: the mugen exhaust... regardless of it being reactive or the real deal mugen cat back/axle back.

A custom pipe by some muffler shop is going to be cheaper then a full catback exhaust system.
