TECH: Main relay replacment

We see this from time to time here, and agreed it's a plague to the older obd0 (EF) crowd...

Main Relay Replacement

Besides the igniter, older Hondas suffer from main relay failures as well. Project FFastlap is no exception. I thought it might be the igniter, but swapping it out with a known good unit made no difference.

FFastlap simply refused to start up reliably -- especially after very short drives. I was in denial of the main relay being the culprit, I actually contemplated replacing the fuel pump first. Thankfully after reading IT racers' experience with the relay, I decided to give it a try before going through the hassle of the fuel tank.

Yeah the infamous Main Relay.
Also seems to affect some 5th Gen Accords as well.

How to fix it solder style...

Thankfully I have a spare one hanging around...might swap it out for shits and giggles to see if she runs better with the other one.

Just finished up swapping mine out. The old one looked okay on the inside, but I swapped it anyway.

Also, I changed the ORIGINAL fuel filter. 164k and 13 years worth of fun on that one.
