Hey guys, my friend has a 94 Civic EX, and it tops out @ 90mph. Doesn't matter if he is in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear....does anyone know why this would be?

humm maybe the governor, but thats seems to low(90mph) were its usually a 117ish. does it lack power more than before this happend.

 

I don't think so....power seems pretty good (I know it's a civic and all....) but it gets up and goes, then just stops @ 90.....I don't htink it's the governer....that's too slow of a speed to stop it @

 

maybe his motor is in some kind of safe mode or something. maybe some plug or something makes it stop that early so it wont hurt itself. is it throwing any codes? maybe just reset the ecu. its a long shot but i might work.

 

actually it doesnt matter what the fastest posted speed is. this is a tech help forum so if you know the problem or have a suggestion then do so but if not then dont. he has a valid question. and he wasnt a dick about it. and jeff he said it doesnt matter what gear he is in. so that means it has to be something with the electronics. ecu,wires,sensors? i dont know.
