Mexico - like many parts of the west - is in a severe drought.

Rivers have run dry and many people in Mexico have gone without running water for a significant amount of time.

And now that water is a scarce resource, the drug cartels have stepped in to take control of what remains.

They’ve created elaborate pipelines that take water from the remaining lakes and rivers to water their poppy fields.

They’ve also purchased numerous water trucks to bring water into towns and other areas they control.

As one local man said of the situation…

“We can’t go to the lake or the creek to gather water without asking for permission.”

And apparently, local restaurants and other businesses are forced to buy their water from drug cartels and must ask permission too.

Basically, drug cartels are like politicians. The only difference is drug cartels don’t try to hide the fact that they’re criminals.

Now, if you think that this stuff doesn’t happen in the US, you don’t live in the west.

If you live out west, you’re familiar with “water rights” and how if you’re a farmer or have a plot of land, you must own a water right to be able to use water from a stream or river.

My point is, for those of us who live out west, it looks like droughts won’t be going away anytime soon.

And whether it’s drug cartels or the government, never, ever rely on them for water in a crisis.

Fortunately, most of us don’t live in Mexico where a cartel member is going to put a gun to your head and force you to go through them to get water…

But the government can be just as heavy-handed in different ways. (The IRS, FBI, etc.)

So, control your water as much as you can.

Have lots of water stored at home.

Have a pond, if possible.

Consider burying a water tank.

Have this Survfilter to guarantee clean water.

Do everything possible to ensure that you have the ability to have clean drinking water and you can ride out the storms of life.

After all, with the hurricane barreling toward Florida, you never want to be the person who has to rush to the grocery store and beg for the last bottles of water on the shelf.

Stay safe,
