Default Take a second to think about this question: Can you ever be too secure?

Take a second to think about this question:

Can you ever be too secure?

Now, I’m not talking about a James Bond style lockdown at your residence, 12-inch thick steel doors or a panic room with a secret exit that leads to a getaway car.

What I’m getting at is more along the lines of practical, time-saving and LIFESAVING measures you can take right now...

Things that will get you ready to protect yourself and the people you care about most should the unthinkable (a robbery, break-in or attack) ever happen.

And if you’re reading this right now...

You understand we can NEVER predict the future so we MUST be prepared for it.

I’d love to know your thoughts!

But here’s my take on it in the meantime:

When it comes to self-defense, you have to be educated and trained...

You need to practice regularly and keep your skills sharp...

Staying up to date on the laws in your area is a must...

You can never be too secure in the sense that there is always more to learn because things are constantly changing.

So here’s what I want to do for you today…

When it comes to keeping your family safe at home, even little things can make a BIG difference.

Below are 7 easy ways you can make your home less attractive to criminals on the prowl:
  1. Put up surveillance cameras, even if they’re fake.
  2. Install premium door locks and reinforce old windows.
  3. Make sure the area around the outside of your home is well-lit.
  4. Adopt a dog or leave a TV and lights on when you're gone.
  5. Invest in an alarm system, security signs for your yard and display logo stickers in prominent areas.
  6. Get a defensive firearm or whatever tool you’re most comfortable with and start training.
  7. Join the USCCA to prepare for the before, during and after of a self-defense incident.

Even if you’re only able to do a couple of things on this list…

These are all great ways to improve the safety and security of your home.

But the BEST thing you can do is become a USCCA Member today and unlock the self-defense education, training and self-defense liability insurance you need.⁰Take care and stay safe,

Tim Schmidt

P.S. - Self-defense with a firearm is no joke.

Default Florida: House Passes Constitutional Carry

Florida: House Passes Constitutional Carry

Today, the House voted 76-32 to pass House Bill 543, the constitutional carry bill. It will now go to the Senate for further consideration. Please contact your state senator and ask them to SUPPORT HB 543.

House Bill 543, constitutional carry, strengthens the right to self-defense in Florida by recognizing the right of any law-abiding adult who is at least 21-years-old and legally eligible to obtain a carry permit, to carry a handgun without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have their right to self-defense without red tape, delays, or fees. It does not change who is eligible to obtain a carry permit. It also does not affect previously issued permits, and allows citizens who still wish to obtain a permit in order to carry in other states recognizing Florida’s permits, to do so.

Your NRA would like to thank lead sponsor Representative Chuck Brannan for bringing this important legislation and Speaker Paul Renner for his exceptional leadership through the process.

Again, please contact your state senator and ask them to SUPPORT HB 543.
