What we did on OCT 16 2021Keystone Motor Club...It was the most Fun Car Show ever!
It was the most Fun Car Show ever!
  • We are being overwhelmed with all the cars coming in. It was the first time we had to park cars on the grass.
We need a bigger parking lot.
I'm willing to listen to suggestions, if attendees will email me. Were you there?

    Photo from Dan/Gail, Team Holsen
  •
  • First, a confession:
Two of the boxed door prizes had 1/4 inch of dust from 50 years of storage.
Dust had been knocked off the box outside. But the inside was not cleaned up at all. You might look up the value of those dusty items before you toss them out.

The boxed items were only door prizes, along with Car Wash Soap,
a 5 gallon Car Wash Bucket, Tire Shine, and a round tire gauge.
It was winners choice as to what you won when we drew your name.

A Collectible Large, Tall, One-of-a-kind Beige Ceramic Chalice-styled "Cup" with a large poinsettia carved opening into the side for the included candle to shine through includes a large oval-shaped table cloth which goes with the ceramic cup, and can be claimed by the winner if you email me. I have to wash the table cloth before you can have it.

It's at least 50 years old, and has to be washed by hand. Please be careful with the cup, I was unable to look up the value on the internet. You may have the only unbroken one still in existence.

Except for the door prize collectibles,
We paid out $77 to the winner for the 50/50 raffle. Things were pretty hectic.
Thank you to Dick Peterson for operating the 50/50.

The brand new, original box, original plastic bag, unassembled Tony Stewart collectible Shop Light/Desk Light...the last one that's not in a museum was the grand prize, and may be worth more than the $77 in the 50/50. It's not listed on the internet that I could find.

There were two winners for Best of Show in the Herb and Carol Wagner Memorial Car Show:
Thomas Leo's '68 Chevy 210 won Best of Show and a 2 foot trophy.
Ray Crowley's '27 Ford Roadster won Best of show and a 2 foot trophy.

Keystone Founders Sam and Carol Prentice stopped by briefly.
I need to meet with Sam soon. We are being overwhelmed with all the cars coming in. It was the first time we had to park cars on the grass.
We need a bigger parking lot.
I'm willing to listen to suggestions, if attendees will email me. Were you there?

I want to thank Dick, Don, Vic and John, who helped with tent assembly, and thank you also to Deb Rebuck, Danni Wells, and Dick Peterson who helped with disassembly and packing up when it was time to leave. Thanks also to Gen for the use of the pickup truck and the preparation help prior to the Car Show.

Dan and Gail Holsen were both taking a ton of pictures and the best ones are posted: on Keystones Members Group page..

Default What Keystone Motor Club did on DEC 18 2021

That song from our last days in High School starts to play again in our hearts as well as in our minds...and in my imagination, poodle skirts and all, we are holding hands in a big circle.......

"For all we know, we may never meet again....
Before we go, make this moment sweet again...
A lifetime for some,... tomorrow may never come...
For... all... we... know......"

Back on OCT 16 KMC was blessed with overwhelming success.
That day for the first time we parked in the grass and on both sides of the entrance road.
and we all knew it would be the last time.........................but maybe not..
------------------------------------------------
Because for NOV 20 and DEC 18 2021 we had moved to a bigger location At Fox's Corner; North East corner:
Our thanks to Matlock Homes and Glamorous Kitchens at 16921 Gunn Highway 33556. The topic of conversation THAT day was; 'I think we need a bigger place" and "Next month, I'm getting here at 9:30." A few earliest arrivals beat the uncertainty of Saturday traffic on DEC 18 and got there by 9AM.

Good News! For DEC 18 and future meetings we are moving barricades to the side and opening up more parking area. We need a loaned battery-powered leaf blower to clean leaves away a week or so before the JAN 15 meeting. If you have a leaf blower, email and let me know, please.-Bob

Everyone signing in for the car show got a Keystone Motor Club Christmas present
plus an original song booklet of Gen's car-oriented Christmas Songs.
If you did not get the present and booklet, ask and pick them up at sign-in on Jan 15 2022.
-------------------------
We are having bigger, and nicer trophies each meeting. Chili Cook Off trophies to be presented
on January 15 2022 include a necklace with a Chili Pepper and even the tablecloth has Chili Peppers!
Pics take a moment to download.....

Don Smith won the lighted Christmas Angel collectable. Value was unknown. We could not find it listed anywhere. It probably was the last one. We gave away 3 collectible Snowmen of Ceramic and some Crystal, and a book on Fords. Milt and Rosemary Roorda donated some hand built bird houses for the raffle and set up a display of antique car parts net to their Model T Ford

If we pulled a ticket with your name, you got your choice. We save all donated door prizes for future events. But we gave away the boxes of fresh donuts. LOL

Renee Martoglio assisted with Trophy presentations for the Herb and Carol Wagner Memorial Car Show. Danni Wells drove her '57 Chevy over and operated the 50/50, plus helped with setup and takedown. Deb Rebuck's 2009 Corvette won the
Best of Show Trophy
Anthony Quiroz 1968 Mustang won the Best of Show Gift Certificate.

Gen had gone to Winn Dixie to direct stragglers down to us.
35 people entered the No Entry Fee Car Show, and plenty of people skipped sign-in and
just enjoyed hanging out. We will be opening up more parking for future meetings.

Default What Keystone Motor Club did on JAN 15 2022

What Keystone Motor Club did on JAN 15 2022The WOK, Women Of Keystone gave us another great day at KMC January 15.
A Steven Spielburg Production........actually, he may keep on wishing......lol
----------------------
Months ago Danni Wells and Denise Johnson said they wanted to hold a chili cook off.
Back when I was married I was partly trained and I know that
when a woman says she wants to do something, it's best to get out of her way.
So I got out of their way.
Danni and Denise get full credit for organizing the cookoff.
----------------------
It was a cold day driving up Gunn Highway to put up some signs and I was overthinking.....
as I have sometimes admitted to.... (LOL).....but...

When I passed by Matlock Homes Glamorous Kitchens at Fox's Corners, I saw Denise Johnson
unloading and setting up tables. When I got to Winn Dixie, I saw the familiar Red Chevy Belaire
of Mechiel Kopaska and Kurt Kalbach's Firebird and they told me they were getting supplies
for the cookoff.

Back at Matlock Homes, people were arriving and signing in. I'm greatful that Tammy
Whitlock
had arrived and opened the show room. Danni was not only setting things up for
the cookoff, she was also selling 50/50 tickets while I was signing people in.

Nitish Rele dropped off copies of Motoring Tampa Bay Magazine. Wayne Platteborze made a donation to Keystone Motor Club. Frank Salerno donated a speaker system for Keystone to use. Can you hear me NOW? Keystone Founders Sam and Carol Prentice stopped in for a visit, and Milt Roorda did a drive through with his Model T club. We had free magazines again, and some members donated door prizes.
--------------------
This was the closest chili cookoff ever!
The winner scored 101 points, second was 99 points and third place was 98 points.
1st Place was Mechiel Kopaska.
2nd Place was Gen Rummy.
3rd Place was Danni Wells.

Each entrant got a chili pepper necklace and their choice of trophy.
Mechiel picked out a red trophy to match her red car.I thank the entrants. I thank the unknown score keeper...who I still owe
a chili pepper necklace to,... and I thank all the judges.
We gave half the 50/50 to one randomly drawn judge......in this case the judge got $104.00.

Winners of the Herb and Carol Wagner Memorial Car Show Best Of Show trophy and $25 gift certificate were Nick Barrasso and Ed McGuinness.

We had the Best Chili in town, The Best Cookoff in Town. The Best Car Show in town
and people were asking me "When is the next cookoff?"
Well folks, after you tell Danni and Denise thanks for putting this first one on,
you might ask about next year's contest.

Everyone said they had a good time.
And me? I'm greatful that the Women Of Keystone did such a great job....
and that someone saved me the last half of a bowl...... mmmmmm.....It was great!

I thank you and everyone for coming out. It was a great day, and the Best Chili Cookoff in Town!

Default What Keystone Motor Club did March 19 2022

What Keystone Motor Club did March 19 2022

Thank you to Milt Roorda for contributing an article of interest to KMC's website newsletter.
Keystones Highly Informal Strictly Voluntary Humble newsletter and history:
Now with 36,000+ views https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/f...r-club-10.html
--------------------------------------
All Vietnam Era Veterans get a FREE Sandwich on March 29 2022, National Vietnam War Veterans Day at Mission BBQ! Choose any location near you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Keystones email newsletter to members told of our support of Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
March 12 at Phillipe Park Clearwater. The 50/50 paid out $1,250 to the winner and the other half to Big Bros, etc.
Thank you to all the Keystone folks who showed up and ate hot dogs with us.....
and a thank you to the volunteer servers from Tampa Knights.
---------------------------------------
On March 26 we will have an Odessa-local cruise-in to support Keystone Methodist Church with lunch available for 100+ people who want to join us 10AM-2PM or so. 16301 Race Track Road, Odessa/Tampa 33556 (Right beside the 3 story tall white cross) slightly South of our normal meeting spot. Early roll in at 930AM.
-------------------------------------
On 19 March,
Rick the Rickster was first into the lot (he beat me there) He said he was going for a car show tri-fecta with two other shows following Keystones meet/show. Get 'em Rick!

It was a great day. Costumes were great.
Even the Best Of Show trophy had a Shamrock Necklace!
I'm glad to be seeing more fun-type-people dressing up.
It encourages others to do the same, and what Gen Rummy started last year
is getting bigger and better. She also passed out the Lorna Doone History to each car.
Lorna Doone was a real person.

We ate Lorna Doone Cookies, Mini Cinnamons and Green Cookies that came from Publix
thanks to Danni wells who also donated a bunch of St Patricks Day door prizes and a new lighter weight Table to put them on.

I goofed up and didn't get the North lot unlocked early enough.
Maybe we need another "Key" person lol ........groan....booo.
Tammy Whitlock kept open the showroom at Matlock Homes Glamorous Kitchens
so we could use the bathrooms.
-----------------------------------------
Maybe one size fits all...including my fat head...lol
I looked like a dork in the green derby bowler hat......a few sizes too big and resting on my ears...lol or tucking my ears inside slightly.
but.........when a woman hands you something that she got for you
It is a thoughtful gesture from her and should be appreciated...which I do appreciate.
A guy should always support a woman's idea and not disappoint her.

Wondering if I can snip out some openings to let my ears through?
or if it would lower the hat too much......hmmm ...we will see.
Wondering about other stuff to do to it.........also to jazz it up a bit for next year.
Maybe I'm becoming more of a fun-type guy.

The hat band said "Kiss me I'm Irish"
I couldn't find a woman willing to change me into a handsome prince
from being a green shirted frog.....with a green hat....lol but plenty of guys winked at me.... lol Maybe not.......

Vic Piano drew tickets and used his announcer's voice to call winners names and
ticket numbers. Danni Wells operated the 50/50 Club Participation and we paid $67 to the winner.
---------------------------------
The Herb and Carol Wagner Memorial Car Show Best Of Show Trophy was won by
Marty Higbee of Christian Hot Rodders Association car club with the highest lifted 4X4
truck ever seen at Keystone Motor Club. CHRA has a cruise-in with food discounts every Saturday 5-8PM at the 50's Diner at 1730 US 19 34691. Ron and Diane Thomas won the Best Of Show $25 Gift Certificate.

We gave out gold "Good Luck" coins with a 4 leaf clover to people who could not escape me fast enough.
------------------------------------
For April the special theme is a Cackle Berry Party (know what those are?) and we will have a basket of Free Lucky Easter eggs which the first 40 people can draw from. The eggs contain free 50/50 red tickets, actual Honest American Cash, Chinese cookie fortunes, the last of the Good Luck 4 leaf gold coins, and a few joke items. Several Easter eggs have more than one prize. Check in at registration as soon as you arrive and choose yours.
-------------------------------------------
Dan and Gail Holsen were photoing our cars to update the Keystone Facebook page...you should join us there. Over 100 members strong! We are now ready for a live facebook part time streaming person for a Stephen Spielberg Production.
Will it be you? Let me know, please.

Default Keystone Motor Club and Ladies Day May 21 2022

Keystone Motor Club and Ladies Day May 21 2022Nitish Rele stopped by to deliver Motoring Tampa Bay Magazines.
A few thank yous and congratulations are due........

Congratulations to James Hamister for both the cover picture and the inside cover of Motoring Tampa Bay magazine. Was that a '68 Pontiac?

Congratulations to Milt and Rosemary Roorda on being in the Center Spread of Motoring Tampa Bay Magazine as well as on the cover with their Red 1909 Model T Touring Car.
--------------------------------------------
A few famous Ladies you may not have heard of....
Sounding like the Academy Awards...I would like to thank my mother...and your mother too. If it wasn't for those ladies, most of us (lol) would not be here if it weren't for a woman and we wouldn't be having a great time at Keystone's 3rd Saturday Herb and Carol Wagner Memorial Car Show.

Thank you to Renee Martoglio for the generous donation that has kept us in trophies for 2+ years.

Thank you to Gen Rummy for creating the WOK/Women Of Keystone and the monthly Special Programs, for brewing up and providing 730AM coffee, Root Beer Floats, bottled water, and a Day at The Beach without having to actually go to the beach.

Thank you to Keystone Administrator and purchasing agent, Danni Wells for the monthly support and the ideas, the sounding board critiques, and the negotiating for Keystone on her way to Striving for Great, not just Good.

Thank you to Gail Holsen, photographer and co-anchor with Dan Holsen for Keystone's Facebook member page (search Keystone Motor Car Club Members) and to Isabella Bradley creator of KMC;'s original Facebook page.

Thank you to Carol Prentice, wife of Sam Prentice, founders of Keystone Motor Club and Linda Martin, KMC's prior Meeting Notification Secretary.

And thank you to all the WOK/Women Of Keystone who attended on a cloudy day.
KMC appreciates all of you. Every lady who came onto the premises got a Rose for Ladies day.
including the spectators... We gave Roses also to guys to take home to their favorite female.

To learn more about Famous Ladies go to post # 463, etc of https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/e...r-club-12.html Betty Skelton raced Air Planes as well as a CORVETTE in NASCAR Time trials! Louise Smith was the first Lady of NASCAR and Michelle Mouton was the fastest woman ever in European Car Rallying.
--------------------------------------------
Once again Rickster and two other guys who don't sign in beat me into the parking lot.
This was on a day that looked a little cloudy. I had sent out the rainy day policy that states you can bring a substitute car so you don't get your show car wet and dirty and we drew names for trophies and prizes as promised.
Rick says to me: "Bob, I checked with Paul Dellagato and he says it won't rain until after we leave." Folks you can't get any better advice than that. Even 6 hours later it had not rained. 23 people signed in....a bunch more drove in, hung out a while, and had a good time.
-------------------------------------------
Connor Boggs, graduating Senior, Eastlake High School helped with sign-ins, raffle drawings, and who knows what all. Danni Wells did the 50/50 Club Participation and door prizes. Earl Baker won the Best Of Show Gift Certificate with his '50 Ford. Larry Clark won Best Of Show Trophy with his 307 Chevy. Kurt Kalbach won and donated the Club Participation money back to the club. Thank you sir!
-----------------------------------------------
On June 18th KMC Mancave Day we are giving away TWO Tsunami Classic TSCS 701H Fishing Rods with Quantum Optima 40 4 bearing continuous anti-reverse Reels fully loaded with line...never used.....still in plastic....retails for about $100 each with rod, reel, line and keys to a new car........kidding about the car part....and we have a few other items coming as well.
Get the RED ticket for door prizes. Get the Free Blue ticket for Gift Certificates and free car show entry. Ask Bob about signing up for FREE KMC Mission BBQ Birthday Sandwiches, and Veterans will eat Free sandwiches on Armed Forces Day.

--------------------------------
Kurt and Mechiel Kalbach took me up on the rainy day policy when they drove over in their
1999 FL60 Freightliner. I was looking up by about six feet into Mechiel's smiling face
when she said: "Well, Bob, you said we could bring a substitute vehicle!"
So I signed them in. lol

By chance if a KMC member doesn't know, a Freightliner is the tractor part of a tractor-trailer and it is huge!
A great picture would be Kurt's '79 Trans Am Firebird parked nearest the camera with both vehicles in the same picture and the FL60 Freightliner as a background behind it.

It was a first time happening for Keystone Motor Club. Kurt will give you the story about the unique details of both his Firebird Trans Am and the story of his FL60 Freightliner. NO ONE has seen a Freightliner engine at a car show. Kurt can drive too. He backed the Freightliner into the North lot like he had done it before!

It was another great day in the Keystone Zone, folks, and we thank you for stopping by.
