Tommy

While on vacation a few months ago, my wife and I rode the narrow-gauge, 145-year-old steam-operated railway on the Isle of Man. The line is 15.3 miles long and is a genuine, clackety, open-air hoot to ride through the countryside. In our passenger compartment, we met Mrs. Jules Gomes, wife of the Rebel Priest.

The Reverend Jules earned a Ph.D. from Cambridge and taught at several English universities. He enjoys literature, art, jazz, motorcycles — and shooting. The reverend is a Christian conservative voice in a dis-United Kingdom on the precipice of social surrender and cultural suicide, a Formerly Great Britain (FGB) dismantling the Magna Carta. The reverend’s warnings in speeches, in print and from the pulpit earned him a boot out of the Church of England.“Tommy Robinson is not my cup of tea,” Dr. Gomes writes. “But I don’t dismiss the fact that he is a beacon of hope for millions in a country that increasingly resembles a dystopian police state. I grew up under various apartheid governments in South Africa.

I know the signs of tyranny. These are now flourishing in the UK at an accelerated rate.”In case you don’t know Tommy Robinson or why Dr. Gomes would write about him, here are a few thoughts. The reason we must care is because of the very left-wing statist impulse that screeches about your guns, the Castle Doctrine and your right to stand your ground. This loud, vulgar crowd discovered that it can take your guns by first regulating speech.

This tactic — this disease — has spread from the mother country Great Britain to Australia, New Zealand and now to America.Now, even Dr. Gomes says that Tommy is “not [his] cup of tea,” but Tommy is Irish. According to the royals, he is a troublemaker.

Tommy is conservative and has searched for groups of like-minded conservatives. In this sense, he has been disappointed, even after founding a group himself. Sometimes, the same thing happens with conservative groups as with liberal ones: The loudest, most offensive and far-out people (those willing to get into a scrum with anyone) win. Thus, Tommy has joined (and then left) several well-publicized groups.FGB’s media has labeled anything Tommy Robinson does as “far-right” or “right-wing,” thus tarring the good with the bad and brushing aside his actions and ideas with the usual left-wing rhetoric of hate — the same rhetoric we are barraged with designed to shut us up.Tommy Robinson took exception when the government of FGB held secret hearings into “grooming gangs.” It is no secret to the people of Newcastle that such gangs, primarily Muslim immigrants, have abused hundreds of women, forcing them into prostitution and slavery.

“A total of 17 men and one woman have been convicted of offences including rape, sexual abuse, supplying drugs and trafficking for sexual exploitation in a series of trials over the Newcastle case.” (The Independent, February 23, 201 At first, police and prosecutors tried to blame the women victims and shield the Muslim gangs.Tommy Robinson fought the secrecy, and the FGB government jailed him for contempt. Tommy’s crime was videotaping the coddled perpetrators in public on the street outside the courtroom.

The government, afraid that the people of Britain would finally wake up and stand up to the trial and invasion of their homeland by a horde of people with no respect, thus conducted the trial furtively and hoped no one would notice.Now, in their affluence, the traditional inhabitants of FGB have become something of a sweet but ineffectual bunch.

I know this because I have just returned from another vacation on “this blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England,” as Shakespeare said. The peasantry there, having acquiesced to a government that has seized its firearms and restricted its speech and right to assembly, is devolving into a swill of warm spit. Too Bad. Tommy Robinson may not be my cup of tea either, but I’m rooting for him because I see myself in him.
