If you choose a revolver for personal defense, learn to shoot it well in the double-action mode. Cocking the hammer to fire single-action shots wastes time during a high-stress incident.
When you train, grab that gun in a firing grip and run the trigger all the way through the double-action trigger pull. Shoot close. Shoot fast. Shoot double-action. Train like you fight so that you can fight like you train.

On the Range
Unless you are shooting slow-fire target competition, 90 percent of your revolver training should be done in the double-action mode. This is how you will fight when things get ugly. Learn to keep your shots on target while using that long, heavy trigger pull.
