As a young man starting in law enforcement
Roger As a young man starting in law enforcement, an old lieutenant told me when someone pulls a gun on you there are 3 things you can do.
1. Stand there and get shot.
2. Fight back and one or both of you is likely to get shot.
3. Run knowing that most crooks don't have the guts to shoot and those that do are generally poor shots.
Distance is your friend and live cops are better than dead heroes.
