Close-Quarters Fighting
Close-Quarters Fighting

If you remember just two things from this video, they should be:
Protect your head.
Aim low.
In a sudden assault, you will likely end up fighting to get to your gun. Once you get to your gun, you should put rounds into your attacker and fight to get away. Driving your off-hand fist up helps to protect your head and neck and puts your elbow forward to create at least a little space. Plus, you get the double benefit of possibly catching the attacker with an uppercut as you move to protect yourself.
So, then: Make a fist and thrust upward to protect your neck and head. Simultaneously go for your gun. Draw. Rotate and fire down into the pelvic region. Your goal here is to hit the pelvic girdle and stop the assault instantly. Once his pelvis is broken, your attacker will go down.
This should give you the chance to get clear. If your bullets don’t break the pelvic girdle, those two rounds to the abdomen should buy you some time to push away and create some space. At the same time, you need to assess your options — namely, should you keep shooting? If the attacker is still a threat, keep shooting until the threat stops. Stop shooting immediately when the attacker is no longer a threat.
Practice this Dry
Build the muscle skills for this action with dry practice. Make sure you drive your first upward aggressively and make sure your muzzle is pointed down at the level of the pelvis as you draw. Repeat until you can’t get it wrong.
