well my pro shifted Doug Nash I didnt use a clutch to shift sometimes but it still had a pressure plate and disc. So I dont understand how it shifts without a disc and presure plate. The syncros would go bad if this is a stock tranny.

Electric conversions don't usually shift while they're being driven. If you're driving around town and expect to cruise < 40-50 mph, just put it in 2nd and be happy. For highway cruising at higher speeds, maybe use 3rd. But, either way, due to the torque characteristics of an electric motor, you don't really need to shift through lower gears to accelerate.

So, shifting is a non-issue, as it's usually only done when the vehicle is stopped. Motor off with no inertia should behave similarly to clutch-in (the motor will spin freely, just like a disengaged clutch), so weight and complexity can be saved by just eliminating the clutch.

sorry but i shift the hell out of it and it synks just fine
i think from the low inerta of spinning mass and the presion control of the motor speed
you may not even need syncrose at all
all ya do is match motor speed with gear speed and it shifts fine
you cant shift if the gear speed and motor speed dont match
it does take longer to reach a perfect mesh speed but the syncros help if your in a bit of hurry

as easly as slipping your gas engine out of gear w\o cluch is the same
have you ever shifted w\o clutch up shift ? you gotta get it right or it clunks and tears up teeth you have a smaller window with all that shit spinning around like the flywheel and cams and balancer
with a electric motor up there you have a small amount to mesh with and works pretty easily with no clunking or syncro spin up or any type of damage to trans

shifting time is about double but you shift half as much
i use 1 2 3 and sometimes 4 th
but 3rd is fast enough to keep motor rshared_pm high for cooling and low amp draw
i run 1st to 20 mph or so 2nd to 30 \35 and 3rd 40 to 65 and 4 th is very seldom used
i have never reached 5 th
it will take off ok but a little slow in 4 th gear but draws lots of power

Time to build Version 2, eh? Pretty damned cool that someone offered you cash enough to justify selling it. A testament to your build quality, I'd say.

Hit up CL and find some light, small car with a blown engine, get yourself more speed and better range next time.
