Default 100mpg PHEV

i came across this little article about the new plug in hybrids that toyota will be launching in the future. it also has a little run-down on the pros and cons on making this setup on your hybrid right now. pretty decent read if you have the time..

My opinion on plug in hybrids is basically this. We transfer the pollution from the tailpipe of the vehicle to the smoke stack at the power generating plant.
That, and we are assuming there will be no "rolling blackouts" like there seems to be every summer to screw up the "plug in" portion of the formula.

I havent ever been affected by a rolling black out . I think that electric is the way to go, eventually when they start making more/bigger nuclear power plants our fossil fuels can really be cut down drastically.

problem is the amount of pollution created by the cars far exceeds the amount of pollution created by producing the electricity to charge them. Start looking at covering a house with solar cells, small back yard verticle wind turbines, natural gas and a dozen other technologies available or almost available and it bends even more in favor of the EV.
