No truck trade-ins
My whole family works in the car business, and rumor has it some dealerships arent taking truck/suv trade ins anymore[some even have signs outside th dealership] because no one wants to buy them anymore. Can anyone confirm this?
About two months ago we tried trading in my wifes '05 Tahoe and out of the five dealers we went to three said they would not take it in on trade. The fourth offered us $12k for it and we ended up finding one that gave us right at $19 for it, but this was the fourth vehicle we bought from them. It is amazing at how cheap the dealers are selling them for right now. Even on Ebay and other sights trucks and SUV's are dirt cheap.
Yeah my mom said one of Germains dealerships says "We do not take SUV/truck trade ins". For shits and gigs I called the "smart" car dealership here in srq to see if there was a wait to buy one of their cars, and there is. 14 MONTHS!
seen one yesterday at a used car dealer in Sebring for sale. It has been there for about two weeks, it is orange. They actually look OK, but I wouldn't drive one.
I work for Crown and we till do trade in on trucks/suv's, we don't lowball to hell, but we don't offer generously either. The reasons dealers lowball on big vehicles, is because its based off auction prices. If they offer youu 6 grand for an explorer, its because thats what we can get for it at auction if we can't sell it on the lot. And with the market the way it is, no ones bidding on those vehicles, meaning we don't have any security in it, meaning we offer even lower..same as most dealerships.
