Actually the real problem is that the speakers are 2 Ohm instead of the normal 4 Ohm... You can replace the stock speakers with other 2 Ohm speakers (good luck finding anything though) or just replace the entire system. BTW, there is nothing under the seats, the amp is located in the spare tire well just in front of the antenna on the inside fender wall and weighs approx. 3lbs. (I'm in the middle of some weight reduction )

WOW, this is an old post but the stock speakers are dual voice coil, each coil being 4 ohms.

There is one company that makes a DVC that will fit in there but they don't sound very good. The stockers are gonna be the best speaker you can get in there w/o replacing your whole stereo.
